JAMMU FEBRUARY 04:-In a dramatic and impassioned intervention that reverberated through the halls of the Jammu & Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Javed Ahmed Rana, the towering Tribal Leader and Cabinet Minister in the Omar Abdullah Government, today delivered a searing denunciation of the controversial and contemptible remarks made by Leader of Opposition Sunil Sharma.
Speaking in the Assembly, Rana, revered for his unwavering defense of tribal rights and the plural ethos of Jammu & Kashmir, categorically repudiated Sharma’s attempt to reduce Pir Panjal Region’s rich civilizational legacy to a narrow dynastic and majoritarian construct.
“Jammu & Kashmir was never a Dogra state. What history are they invoking? The mindset of ruling over minorities is something I will never endorse. They are challenging a vast expanse whose boundaries are formidable and enduring,” Rana thundered, his words resounding across the Assembly chamber.
With rare candor and emotional intensity, Rana laid bare the anguish provoked by divisive rhetoric:
“Jee chahta hai ki dil ko aag laga doon;
Par dar lagta hai ki harjai beghar na ho jai.”
(A fire rages within me, yet I fear the innocent may be rendered homeless.)
Rana fortified his rebuttal with authoritative references to the Mahabharata, Rajatarangini, and Tuzk-e-Jahangiri, each of which explicitly chronicles the Pir Panjal region, its people, culture, and valor.
He reminded the House that since 1947, countless martyrs have laid down their lives to safeguard the nation’s frontiers, and it is reprehensible for any representative of a national party to trivialize such sacrifices by questioning regional belonging.
“The Pir Panjal is not merely a geographical entity, it is a living chronicle of courage, culture, and sacrifice. To undermine it is to desecrate her very soul,” Rana declared with unflinching conviction.
Rana’s words commanded attention and respect across party lines, transforming the Assembly into a forum of collective introspection.
His intervention is being hailed as a historic defense of Jammu & Kashmir’s plural identity and the indomitable spirit of its people, particularly those from the Pir Panjal Region.
Legislator from Pir Panjal Region also vehemently denounced and rebutted Sharma over his contemptuous remarks.
