POONCH JANUARY 26:-The 77th Republic Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm, patriotic fervour and massive public participation at the District Headquarters, Poonch.

Minister for Jal Shakti, Forest, Ecology & Environment and Tribal Affairs, Javed Ahmed Rana, unfurled the National Flag and took the salute at the main Republic Day function, marking the solemn occasion with pride and dignity.

The celebrations witnessed an impressive turnout of people from all walks of life, including civil society members, students, youth and senior citizens, reflecting the spirit of unity and national pride.

The tricolour fluttered high amidst the echo of patriotic slogans, filling the atmosphere with a sense of collective commitment towards the nation.

A well-coordinated and disciplined march-past by school students and participating contingents formed the ceremonial highlight of the function.

This was followed by colourful and vibrant cultural programmes presented by students, showcasing the rich cultural diversity, unity and patriotic spirit of India.

The performances were highly appreciated by the audience and added charm to the celebrations.

Among the dignitaries present on the occasion were MLA Haveli Ajaz Ahmad Jan, Deputy Commissioner Poonch Ashok Kumar Sharma, Senior Superintendent of Police Poonch Shafkat Bhat, DDC Members Ch. Abdul Ghani and Ch. Riyaz Bashir Naaz, Advocate Mahroof Khan and Advocate Nazir Choudhary, senior officers of the district administration, representatives of civil society organisations, principals and students from various educational institutions, besides a large gathering of the general public.

Addressing the gathering, the Minister extended warm greetings to the people on the occasion of Republic Day and said that the day stands as a solemn reminder of the historic freedom struggle and the unparalleled sacrifices made by the nation’s freedom fighters.

He emphasized that the Constitution of India laid the strong foundation of the country as a sovereign, socialist and secular democratic Republic and continues to guide the nation through its core principles of justice, liberty, equality and fraternity.

“This day reminds us that our Republic is built on constitutionalism, respect for diversity and the pursuit of reason and justice. Let us cherish these values and work together to realise the promise of a truly inclusive and progressive India,” the Minister remarked.

Highlighting the Government’s firm commitment to inclusive and sustainable development, the Minister elaborated on various developmental initiatives and welfare schemes being implemented across Poonch district.

He said that focused efforts are being made to strengthen infrastructure, improve access to basic amenities and public services, generate employment opportunities and ensure holistic development of youth, women, tribal communities and other marginalized sections of society.

The Minister called upon the citizens to uphold the ideals enshrined in the Constitution in letter and spirit and to actively contribute towards maintaining unity, peace and social harmony.

He urged the people to work collectively for building a progressive, peaceful and prosperous nation.

On the occasion, the Minister also felicitated various officers and individuals for their exemplary services and contributions in their respective fields.
