Rajouri girl Mawya Sudan becomes first IAF woman Fighter Pilot from J&K.

Rajouri June 21 :-Mawya Sudan from Lamberi village has become the second woman officer from Rajouri district of J&K to join the Indian Armed Forces after Waheeda Prism Khan.
Mawya Sudan has become a ‘fighter pilot’ of the Indian Air Force while Waheeda Prism Khan had joined the Navy
Wahida Prism Khan, resident of Thanamandi town is one of five siblings of late Gulzar Ahmed teacher (who was killed by the militants inside the school in 2001) had joined the Indian Navy as Naval Surgeon and had become the first woman to command the annual parade at the Armed Forces Medical College, Pune.
Mawya Sudan is a younger daughter (two sisters) of Sushma and Vinod Sudan, Junior Engineer posted to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) at Katra.
The family originally belongs to Plandri in PoJK and after migration in 1947 had settled in Lamberi village in Nowshera sub-district.
In 2003 Vinod Sudan decided to shift to Jammu and presently the family is living in Sainik Colony and occasionally visits Lamberi.
Mawya Sudan had her pre-primary school education at Lamberi and passed 10th class from Carmel School at Kunjwani (Jammu).
She passed 11th & 12th class from the JK Public School and pursued her graduation from the DAV MCM College at Chandigarh.
“When she was eight years old, she would like to see the planes in the sky and since then Manwa were inclined towards becoming a pilot” said Vinod Sudan.
After her graduation, Mawya joined Post Graduation in Defence Studies but soon she cleared the Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT -2019) and in December 2020 she left for her training.
Mawya Sudan is the 12th woman Indian Air Force Officer in the country.
Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Rakesh Kumar Singh Bhadauria reviewed the ‘combined graduation passing out parade held at the Air Force Academy at Dundigal in Hyderabad.
“Since her childhood, Mawya’s dream was to become a fighter pilot and for that, she focused on her target. She is nature-loving and spends most of her time reading books & was raised as a strong and independent thinker,” said Mawya’s father Vinod Sudan
