Pune man wears gold mask worth Rs 2.89 lakh to protect himself from Covid-19

New Delhi: From masks to scarves and dupattas, people are using many things to cover their faces during the novel coronavirus pandemic. The health officials have made it clear that covering one’s face is a necessity in order to protect oneself from the virus and people are implying to that.

However, a man in the Pimpri-Chinchwad region of Pune is covering his face with a mask made of gold. You can read that again. Shankar Kurade got a gold mask made for himself to wear during the pandemic.

News agency ANI shared multiple pictures of Shankar on Twitter and since then he has gone viral.

The mask that costed him Rs 2.89 lakh is quite thin and has minute holes in it, so that there is no difficulty in breathing. However, Shankar is not very sure about the effectiveness of the mask in protecting him from the novel coronavirus.

The total number of novel coronavirus in India has crossed the 6 lakh mark and over 18,000 deaths have been recorded. Pune has reported around 6,000 Covid-19 positive cases with 274 fatalities.
