RAJOURI/BUDHAL MAY 29:-A significant public outcry erupted in Budhal today as dozens of locals staged a protest against the manager of Jammu and Kashmir Bank’s Budhal branch. The protesters raised slogans and demanded justice, accusing the bank manager of unethical behavior and exploitation.

One woman protester claimed that her account had been arbitrarily frozen despite no outstanding loan payment dues. An auto driver also shared his grievances, accusing the manager of mistreating customers.

Social activists Waqar Lone and Mohammad Farooq Inquilabi further alleged that the branch manager has been forcibly enrolling loan applicants into insurance policies without their consent. According to them, poor and unemployed borrowers are being made to pay an additional ₹20,000 to ₹26,000 for insurance, directly deducted from the loan amount. They also expressed concern over the rude and abusive language used by the manager towards customers.

Moreover, the protesters accused the manager of demanding bribes in exchange for processing loan applications and other banking services. Allegations were also raised regarding unauthorized individuals operating within the bank premises, handling sensitive financial matters without any official designation or accountability—posing serious questions about transparency and security.

A police team from Budhal Police Station arrived at the scene and engaged in discussions with the protesters. The protest was temporarily called off after this intervention.

However, the local residents have made it clear that if the matter is not resolved by Monday, a much larger protest will be organized. They warned that the administration would be held responsible for any further escalation.

The protesters have called on higher bank authorities to immediately intervene, conduct a thorough investigation, and ensure justice for the affected customers.
