RAJOURI OCT, 27:-A group of progressive farmers from Sub Division Darhal, District Rajouri, was today flagged off for a seven-day interstate exposure-cum-training programme to Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana. The tour was flagged off by Chief Agriculture Officer (CAO) Rajouri, Rajesh Kumar Verma, along with SDM Thanamandi, Syed Abid Hussain (JKAS), and SDAO Darhal, Surinder Kumar, at Thanamandi.
The training programme has been organised under ATMA (SMAE) 2025–26 with an aim to enhance farmers’ skills and familiarize them with the latest advancements in commercial agriculture.
Speaking on the occasion, CAO Rajesh Kumar Verma said that the Agriculture Department is committed to capacity building and developing skilled human resources in the farming sector. He urged the farmers to interact with agricultural scientists, experts, and extension specialists to gain firsthand knowledge of scientific crop cultivation practices and emerging trends in agriculture.
He encouraged the farmers to adopt advanced technologies after learning from such exposure visits, adding that these platforms also promote cultural and knowledge exchange among farmers from different regions.
The participating farmers expressed gratitude to the department and said the training will greatly help in upgrading their expertise and improving agricultural productivity back home.
Sub Divisional Magistrate Thanamandi, Syed Abid (JKAS), Sub Divisional Agriculture Officer Darhal, Surinder Kumar, Subject Matter Specialist Ajay Kumar, and Agriculture Extension Officer Thanamandi were present during the flag-off ceremony.
