SRINAGAR JANUARY 28:-In the heart of Kashmir’s Beerwah subdivision—where resilience often rises amidst challenges—Mr. Muzamil Mehmood has emerged as a distinguished voice of purpose, progress, and youth-led social transformation. A committed social reformer and community leader from Manchhama village, Muzamil has dedicated his life to fostering a more aware, united, and responsible society.

Having lost his father early in life, Muzamil faced hardships at a young age. More recently, he suffered another profound personal loss with the passing of his mother just two months ago. As the eldest member of his family, he has carried responsibilities with remarkable strength and dignity. Rather than surrendering to grief, he has transformed personal hardship into a lifelong mission of service, compassion, and social commitment.

A graduate of Government Degree College Beerwah, his journey of leadership began during 2014–2016 as a volunteer with the National Service Scheme (NSS). Those formative years instilled in him the belief that true leadership is rooted in sacrifice, empathy, and dedication to the welfare of others.

Over the years, Muzamil Mehmood has become widely recognized for his grassroots social work across Budgam district and beyond. His initiatives—ranging from blood donation drives and medical camps to women empowerment programmes—have touched people from all walks of life. His unwavering objective remains clear: to uplift communities through education, health awareness, and moral responsibility.

Deeply concerned about the growing drug menace, Muzamil has actively organized anti-drug awareness campaigns, cybercrime prevention rallies, and youth counselling programmes, motivating thousands to embrace discipline, dignity, and constructive life choices. His consistent efforts to safeguard the younger generation reflect his strong commitment to social reform.

In addition, Muzamil has conducted and participated in several Tiranga Rallies, spreading the message of national unity, integrity, and patriotism among youth across the Valley. His work continues to reinforce the spirit of responsible citizenship and national pride.

His passion for a cleaner and greener Kashmir is equally commendable. Through cleanliness campaigns, cannabis eradication drives, and tree plantation programmes, he has mobilized volunteers to restore public spaces and nurture environmental consciousness in the region.

Under national initiatives such as “Sewa Parv 2025” and “Swachhata Hi Seva 2025,” Muzamil successfully led multiple welfare programmes including plantation drives, blood donation camps, and anti-drug awareness events. His dedication earned him a Certificate of Appreciation from the Director, Urban Local Bodies Kashmir.

Muzamil’s services have received widespread recognition. Over the years, he has been honoured with more than 150 awards and certificates from various government departments, NGOs, and social organizations, acknowledging his outstanding contributions in youth empowerment, health awareness, and community development.

A firm believer in the transformative power of education, he frequently organizes book launch events, educational seminars, and youth engagement programmes, bringing together students, authors, and community leaders to promote creativity, critical thinking, and intellectual growth.

Beyond social welfare, Muzamil has also harnessed the power of sports as an effective tool for positive change. By organizing cricket tournaments, martial arts competitions, and cycling events, he encourages youth to channel their energy into fitness, teamwork, and discipline—keeping them away from drugs and negativity.

Even during the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic, Muzamil remained actively engaged on the ground, distributing masks, medicines, and essential supplies to vulnerable families. His commitment to humanity stood firm even during one of the most difficult global crises.

Today, Muzamil Mehmood represents the spirit of a new Kashmir—resilient, compassionate, and progressive. His guiding philosophy, “Replace drugs with dreams, replace silence with strength,” continues to inspire countless young individuals to take ownership of their future.
