Kishtwar, 24 January :—An ambitious steps taken by the Ministry of Women and Child Development and the Government of India in 2008 i.e the National Girl Child Day which is celebrated in India every year on January 24, with the purpose to spread awareness among people about all the inequalities girls face in the Indian society. Besides, Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao (Save the girl, educate the girl) scheme was launched in 22 January 2015 aims to address the issue of the declining child sex ratio image (CSR) and is a national initiative jointly run by the Ministry of Women and Child Development, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the Ministry of Education. It initially focused multi-sector action in 100 districts throughout the country where there was a low CSR.
These ambitious schemes, bears fruitful results and a positive perception witnessed today in erasing the sordid tale of the past and we are leading towards saving and educating girl child in whole nation
There was a time when various sordid things like female foeticide, early marriage, early pregnancy, child labour, no educational opportunities are being carried for girls but with the spreading of awareness among the common masses and conducting of various activities about rights of a girl child, importance of girls education, health and nutrition, now it seems that nation’s daughters is getting their due rights and parents are changing their ill mentality and moving forward towards saving and educating the girl child.
It is noteworthy that, Government, PRIs, NGOs, Media took every possible step in eradicating the sufferings of girls and to empower them to face the challenges with wisdom, valour and determination, and to carve out a niche in this competitive world.
Nowadays, Parents are happy and overjoyed in having a girl child and celebrating their birth with distribution of sweets and great pump and show, as a good presage. And today whole nation celebrates National Girl Child Day with slew of activities to honour the girl child.
Society and parents are encouraging girls to take up the profession of their choice and enable them to become financially and economically strong and girls are also proving their mettle in every field and there is no field in which they have not left their impression. They are not destined to remain within the four walls of their homes they play an important role in social, political, science, sports, industrial, economic and cultural fields.
However, there are issues related to exploitation, harassment in some societies today and efforts should be made to redress them. If we will change this ill mentality, By loving our girls, investing in their futures, and setting an example we can do our small part than surely these things will be eradicated soon from society.
