RAJOURI MAY 22:-Rising temperatures and geographical challenges in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pirpunjal region have prompted a renewed call from the Rehbar-e-Taleem Teachers Forum for the Education Department to adjust school schedules for the safety and well-being of students.

Aaftab Tantray, District President of the Forum in Rajouri, appealed to Education Minister Mtr. Sakina Itoo and the Administrative Secretary of the department, recommending that school hours be revised to 7:00 AM to 11:00 AM. The proposal comes in response to ongoing heatwave alerts affecting the summer zone of the region.

In addition to the timing adjustment, Tantray also requested that summer vacations begin after the third week of June. He said this shift would better reflect the climatic conditions and logistical challenges faced by students in the mountainous terrain.

“Students in this region brave tough conditions to reach school — crossing rivers and hilly paths that become even more treacherous during the monsoon,” Tantray stated. “These realities must be factored into our academic planning.”

The Forum reiterated that this appeal echoes the longstanding concerns of educators across the district and urged the government to act swiftly and sensitively to address the issue.
