SRINAGAR SEPTEMBER 16:-PDP leader Iltija Mufti on Monday called on Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and apprised him of the mounting crisis faced by the Union Territory’s apple industry due to the prolonged closure of the Jammu–Srinagar National Highway.
Heavy rains and flash floods have led to the closure of the critical highway over the past several weeks, leaving fruit-laden trucks stranded for days. Growers fear massive losses as the perishable produce remains stuck en route to markets outside the valley.
Iltija urged the administration to take urgent measures to ensure smooth passage of trucks and safeguard the livelihood of thousands of families dependent on the horticulture sector.
