Despite great efforts by the BJP, the BJP lost the DDC chairman and vice-chairman seats in today’s elections held in Rajouri and the PAGD registered its first victory in the Pirpanjal region ۔
PAGD candidates Naseem Liaqat and Shabbir Khan were elected chairman and vice chairman.
PAGD candidates got 8 votes and BJP candidate got 6 votes out of 14.
It is pertinent to mention here that the DDC elections held here two months ago, where the BJP had won 3 seats out of 14 DDC seats from Rajouri district, the National Conference won 5 seats, the Congress won 3 seats, the PDP won 1 seat the Apni party won 1 seat. Independent won the 1 seat.
The PAGD had the numbers to elect its chairman candidate in Rajouri but the BJP had nothing to contest but the BJP with the support of independent and some others candidates purpose their candidate in election. The tried his best efforts, with horse trading and they put pressure on some PAGD candidates to cast their votes in favour of their purposed candidate With the help of some agencies, some candidates were intimidated and threatened but still they lost and still they managed to buy a PAGD candidate only.
Earlier, the maiden meeting of DDC members to elect Chairman and Vice Chairman was held on 13 February but was later adjourned and scheduled for today.
