RAJOURI DECEMBER 06:-‘A student of BGSBU was killed while 25 others, including 18 minor students were injured in a tragic road mishap at Thandikassi under Rajouri police station on Jammu-Poonch highway in the morning on Wednesday.
Among 18 minor students, 11 are girl students at different schools in Rajouri town and were on their way to Rajouri in a minibus, bearing registration No. JK11A 3415, which was on its way to Rajouri from Manjakot town.
Eyewitness said that the mishap took place when the driver of the minibus tried to save head on collision with two rashly driven cars coming from opposite (Rajouri) side.
After hitting one of the cars on driver side, the minibus turn turtle on the road resulting in injuries to students/passengers and a student, identified as Mohd Wasim (21 yrs) s/o Mohd Ashfaq of Naili village who was standing at the rear door, died on the spot.
Immediately after the accident, inhabitants of the area rushed to the spot and shifted many injured to Associated hospital Government Medical College (AH GMC) in private vehicles.
On getting information of the accident from the Deputy Commissioner, ambulances were rushed to the accident site and all the necessary arrangements, including deployment of doctors, Paramedical staff were made for the treatment of the injured” said Medical Superintendent AH GMC, Dr Mehmood Hussain Bajar.
He added, twenty-six injured were brought to AH GMC, including one declared dead by doctors, and a dedicated medical team worked tirelessly to assess and address their conditions.
All the injured are out of danger and few among them with minor injuries have been discharged after treatment.
Taking cognisance of the mishap the police have started further investigation.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner, Vikas Kundal visited AH GMC to inquire about the condition of the injured and to assess the treatment being provided to them.
While interacting with the injured Vikas Kundal assured best treatment and adequate assistance from the district administration.
The Dc directed the medical team to provide the injured with the most comprehensive and effective treatment, minimizing the risk of complications and ensuring a smoother path to recovery.
Medical Superintendent District Hospital, Dr. Mehmood Bajar and officials of the Health Department accompanied the Deputy Commissioner during his visit.
The injured have been identified as Alshaba Sadiq (18 yrs); Sultana Mirza (17), Mehvish Kouser(17), Shazia Kouser (15), Sonia (17), Tahira Kouser (17), Tiaba Kouser (17), Sadia Riaz (15), Shagufta Kouser (14), Halima Sadia (16), Sonia Kouser (16), Mohd Irfan (18), Abrar Aziz (14),Hassan Raza (13), Danish Chowdhary (22), Mohd Faizan (23), Ibrar Ahmed (17), Hamza Shabir (17), all students and Shanawaz Ahmed (30), Shammim Akhter(30), Mohd Arif (30), Manoj Kumar (28), Shanaz Akhter (25), Mohd Younus (50), and Raj Kumar (49), all passengers.
