One death, 70 new cases.DC, SSP inspects markets for implementation of SOPs.

RAJOURI JANUARY 20:–Rajouri district has witnessed the highest number of Covid deaths i.e 242 after Jammu district (1177) among the ten districts of Jammu province.
A 42-year old patient from Rajouri district admitted in a hospital in Srinagar died today and burial was performed as per SOPs. The deceased was the third patient who died during the 3rd wave.
As per the district Health Department, 373 persons were detected positive during the last seven days while 119 patients have also recovered during this period.
Meanwhile, Enforcement teams have fined 402 violators of COVID SOPs and have recovered a fine worth Rs 38,140.
According to Rajouri Health Department, 3315 children in the 15-17 year age group have been vaccinated in the district on Thursday thus taking the number to 25456 (58%).
Out of reports for 5436 tests received today, 70 persons were tested positive including health workers.
At present, there are 429 active cases in Rajouri ditrict out of which 394 are in home isolation while 35 are in isolation in various hospitals (GMC, Army, BSF MCH, Triage) in and outside (3) the district.
With the sudden spike in the number of COVID-19 cases, the district administration in order to break the chain and to take control of further spreading of the virus, has taken several measures and till Thursday have declared 18 areas/panchayats/ wards as micro containment zones (MCZs).
To take first-hand appraisal of COVID appropriate behaviour enforcement, Vikas Kundal, Deputy Commissioner along with Mohammed Aslam, SSP took round of various areas of the Rajouri Township and found about 80% people were wearing the masks.
“The inspection was carried out to take stock of the implementation of various government advisories and guidelines and Covid-19 SOPs, such as wearing of masks, maintaining social distance, etc to prevent the spread of infection of the deadly Coronavirus” said DC.
“During the inspection, it has been observed that about Eighty percent of people in the town were complying with the COVID related protocols”, the DC added.
“A 20 % population not adhering to CAB are posing a great threat to the rest of the people who are following COVID SOPs. The need of the hour is to ensure that all the people follow COVID 19 protocols in letter and spirit to avoid the risk of infection” the DC said.
