RAJOURI NOV 10:- A significant number of work payments are reportedly pending across various Public Works Department (PWD) divisions in Rajouri district following the merger of the Rajouri Development Authority (RDA) with the PWD. Contractors and stakeholders have expressed deep concern over the mounting liabilities, stating that the delays have caused severe financial distress.
According to local contractors, several completed works—many of them undertaken under RDA—remain unpaid despite multiple reminders and submission of required documentation. The sudden merger of RDA into PWD has led to administrative and financial complications, resulting in the accumulation of pending liabilities in multiple divisions.
Terming the situation “unsustainable”, stakeholders have urged Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Abhishek Sharma to personally intervene in the matter. They appealed to the DC to facilitate the release of necessary funds so that long-delayed payments can be cleared at the earliest.
Contractors warn that unless the issue is resolved soon, ongoing developmental works may also get affected due to lack of resources and confidence among executing agencies.
Contractors hoped that the district administration would take prompt steps to address the financial bottlenecks and ensure smooth functioning of development activities across Rajouri.
