No effective Garbage disposal in Rajouri, municipality fails to provide waste bins

Rajouri : June 20:--Heaps of dirt and garbage have accumulated in lanes and alleys of Rajouri town as the Municipal committee officials refuse to pay heed to the situation.

“Dust, dirt and rubbish is lying scattered in major parts of the main town. There are no dustbins installed in the town and municipal committee workers are in no mood to carry out their professional work to clean the area,” locals said.

Residents from *DC Colony Rajouri told GNS* that people usually throw away the dust and rubbish of their homes near DC office. The heaps of garbage are haven to stray dogs who have made the life of people miserable. We request the municipal committee Rajouri to install a dustbin with lid in the area so that we can pass through the area,” A local resident said.

The waste materials on the streets cause many problems and its bad odour causes many hindrances for the people to pass through the streets. “School going children are facing problems while going to schools and on return as the stray dogs chase them,” Naveed Ahmed, a resident of DC Colony said.

Executive Officer municipal committee Bashir Choudhary said that the committee would assess the requirement of dustbins in the town and install new waste bins wherever necessary. “We will also repair the dustbins damaged during 2016 uprising,” Bashir said.
