Rajouri, April 30 :– Foiling a major bid of smuggling of narcotics and drugs in Rajouri, Jammu and Kashmir police arrested three person and recovered a major consignment of three kilograms of Charas like substance from their possession.
In a press statement, Police in Rajouri said that on Thursday afternoon, a team of police headed by Deputy SP Headquarter Surinder Khadyar and Station House Officer Rajouri Sameer Jillani under the supervision of Additional SP Rajouri, Liyaqit Ali was on routine naka duty at Khandli bridge chowk of Rajouri.
Police said that a Tata Magic load carrier JK11D 3016 was seen coming towards naka point which was signaled to stop but driver alongwith two more associates abandoned the vehicle on road and tried to flee from the spot.
” Alert cops chased all three and managed to nab them at some distance and during frisking, a consignment of three kilograms of Charas like substance was recovered from the possession of these three person.” Police further said.
They have been identified as Deepak Sharma son of Romesh Chander resident of Dhangri Rajouri, Sonu Sharma son of Yog Raj Sharma resident of Palma Rajouri and Shami Kumar son of Suresh Kumar resident of Dalhana, Badharwah of District Doda.
The said vehicle have also been seized whereas a case in FIR 224/20 under sections 8(a)/20/29/60/NDPS Act has been registered in police station Rajouri and investigation into the matter is going on.
Senior Superintendent of Police Rajouri, Chandan Kohli said that arrest of these three is a major success for police as trio were about to snuggle a big consignment towards Palma area for further peddling of narcotics in the area.
SSP also appealed all the parents and guardians to keep a close vigil on their wards which acts as primary deterant towards the menace of narcotics addiction.
