RAJOURI, NOVEMBER 14:–Amid celebrations of Children’s Day, a one-day training program on ‘Nanhe Kadam’ model curriculum for ‘Early Childhood Education (ECE) was organised here at Rajouri under the overall supervision of Vikas Kundal, IAS, Deputy Commissioner.
In the month of April this year Chief Secretary, Dr. Arun Kumar Mehta has launched the curriculum ‘Nanhe Kadam’ of Mission Directorate Integrated Child Development Scheme J&K to keep pace with National Education Policy 2020 and its impetus on universalisation of Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE).
The launched curriculum pays special attention to the development of foundational literacy and numeracy skills besides the principles of early learning while maintaining a balance between child-initiated and teacher-led activities, individual and group activities, & structured and free play activities.
During the training program at Rajouri, the field functionaries were trained on the components of ‘Nanhe Kadam’curriculum to strengthen early childhood education in the Anganwadi Centers (AWCs) – which is critical to optimum learning and retention of children in schools.
Vikas Kundal, impressed upon the field functionaries of the ICDS Department to implement ‘Nanhe Kadam’ curriculum in their AWCs in full letter and spirit.
“Introduction of ‘Nanhe Kadam’ ECE curriculum in the Anganwari centers will prove a milestone in education and holistic development of the children,” said Vikas Kundal.
“Frontline workers of the ICDS Department should work with dedication as they are shouldering an important responsibility to take care of children, who are the future of the nation,” he added.
Vikas Kundal, DC further said that the master trainer shall visit every ICDS project of the district and shall hold training programs for the field functionaries on ‘Nanhe Kadam’ model curriculum for Early Childhood Education (ECE).
Among the others present at the event were the Project Officer, ICDS, Shoket Mehmood Malik; DSWO, Wakeel Ahmed Bhatt; DIO, Narinder Kumar, and CDPOs and field functionaries of ICDS Department.
