RAJOURI APRIL 11:– In a deeply disturbing and unacceptable development, BJP MLA Chander Prakash Ganga has made derogatory and inflammatory remarks targeting the Gujjar and Bakarwal communities. These remarks have caused widespread outrage and hurt among these historically significant and patriotic communities, particularly in districts like Samba, Rajouri, and Poonch.

MLA Rajouri Iftkhar Ahmed has issued a strong condemnation of Ganga’s remarks, calling them “an affront to the dignity of communities who have made countless sacrifices for the nation.”

“The Gujjar and Bakarwal communities are not just a part of Jammu & Kashmir’s cultural mosaic—they are protectors of its legacy. Their youth serve in the armed forces, their elders guard the borders, and their history is filled with examples of sacrifice, bravery, and unwavering patriotism. To insult them is to insult the soul of this region,” said Iftkhar Ahmed.

He emphasized that such divisive and hateful language has no place in democratic discourse, especially from elected representatives who are duty-bound to uphold unity and communal harmony. Mr. Ahmed expressed concern over the BJP leadership’s silence, calling it a “troubling abdication of moral responsibility.”

“The BJP must take immediate disciplinary action against Chander Prakash Ganga. Political silence in the face of hate is complicity. The people of Jammu & Kashmir, especially our tribal communities, deserve respect, not ridicule,” he added.

Iftkhar Ahmed reiterated his full solidarity with the Gujjar and Bakarwal communities and assured them that their pain has not gone unheard.

“As the MLA from Rajouri, I stand with you. Your contributions to the region and the nation will never be diminished by the hatred of a few. We will continue to raise our voices against any attempt to vilify or marginalize you.”

He also called upon civil society, political leaders across party lines, and the media to stand up for truth, dignity, and justice, and not let such statements pass without condemnation
