RAJOURI SEPTEMBER 11:-MLA Rajouri Iftikhar Ahmed met Hon’ble Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to raise a series of critical issues concerning the development and welfare of the Rajouri constituency and the broader Pir Panjal region.

During the meeting, Iftkhar Ahmed strongly advocated for a special relief package for the flood-affected people of Pir Panjal. He emphasized the urgent need for financial aid, rehabilitation, and infrastructure restoration in the wake of recent natural disasters that have severely impacted the region.

Highlighting the education sector, MLA sought immediate financial assistance for Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU), citing the university’s ongoing financial crisis. He called for enhanced grants to ensure its continued academic operations and long-term institutional development.

The MLA also pressed for allocation of dedicated funds for the repair and construction of lanes and drains under the Municipal Council Rajouri, stressing that improved civic infrastructure is key to public health and better urban living conditions.

To strengthen local governance, Mr. Iftkhar Ahmed urged the Chief Minister to establish a Mini Secretariat in Rajouri, which would decentralize administrative services and bring governance closer to the people.

Focusing on healthcare, the MLA raised serious concern over the shortage of staff at Government Medical College (GMC) Rajouri and the lack of a Cath Lab. He urged the Chief Minister to address these gaps at the earliest to strengthen critical care and emergency services in the region.

In addition, MLA Rajouri sought the upgradation of the Conference Hall and Dakbungalow in Rajouri, underscoring their importance in hosting official meetings, public events, and providing quality accommodation for visiting dignitaries and officials.

The Chief Minister gave a patient hearing and assured MLA Iftkhar Ahmed that the government would take appropriate action on the matters raised, focusing on both immediate relief and long-term development.
