RAJOURI, OCT 09: The Department of Agriculture Production and Farmers’ Welfare today organised a mega Exhibition-cum-Kisan Mela at the District Agriculture Complex, Kheora, under the aegis of Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA). The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from across the district.
The programme was presided over by District Development Council Chairperson, Advocate Choudhary Naseem Liaqat, who highlighted the objectives of the event and urged the farming community to take full advantage of the various government schemes aimed at enhancing agricultural productivity and improving the socio-economic condition of farmers. He underlined the immense agricultural potential of Rajouri district, noting its diverse agro-climatic conditions that are highly conducive for crop diversification.
“The region’s diverse topography and climate support cultivation of cereals, pulses, oilseeds, fruits and vegetables as well as allied activities like beekeeping, mushroom cultivation, and floriculture, offering farmers vast opportunities to enhance income and ensure sustainable livelihoods” he noted.
The stakeholder departments including Horticulture, Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, Industries and others had set up informative stalls showcasing respective schemes and services. The Chief Guest inspected each stall and appreciated the efforts put in to educate and motivate farmers.
Resource persons interacted with farmers, providing detailed insights into the initiatives being implemented in the district to promote sustainable and integrated farming practices.
A magnificent cultural programme was also presented on the occasion, spreading awareness among farmers about different welfare and agricultural schemes in an engaging manner.
Scientist from KVK Arvind Ishar delivered an informative session on the Integrated Farming System, emphasising its benefits for income diversification and long-term sustainability.
The farmers were provided Mustard Seed Kits and Soil Health Cards to promote scientific soil management and enhance productivity. The event served as an effective platform for knowledge exchange and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to empowering the farming community through innovation, awareness and convergence of agricultural services.
Chief Agriculture Officer Madan Gopal Singh; AD Fisheries Bodh Raj, the officers from allied departments and a large number of farmers from across the district attended the event.
