Man dies due to electric shock; people block Jammu-Poonch highway in protest for 4 hours.

RAJOURI APRIL 16:–After a 30-year-old man, working as plumber with a MES contractor, died on the spot due to electric shock while working on an electric pole, locals and family members blocked the Jammu-Poonch highway for about four hours demanding suitable financial assistance and job to his 25-year-old wife.
It is pertinent to mention here that the deceased left behind two daughters, one 15 days old & another 2-year-old besides a young wife and old parents.
The body was shifted to 325 Field Hospital. Later the body was kept on Jammu-Poonch highway at Dhalian (Narian) and the people and family members started to protest in favour of their demands.
The deceased has been identified as no Amrit Pal Singh s/o Darshan Singh of village Rajpur Kamila in Nowshera subdivision of Rajouri district.
People alleged that Amrit Pal was working as plumber with the contractor then why he was forced to repair power by climbing on the electric pole from where he fell due to electric shock and died on the spot.
The protesters were demanding action against those responsible for the incident, government job for his wife and financial assistance as per rules for the kin.
Additional SP Nowshera, SDPO, Nowshera and Tehsildar Nowshera tried to pacify the protesters, but they refused to accept their assurances.
At about 8 pm, Deputy Commissioner, Om Parkash Bhagat reached the spot and talked to the protesters.
After DC’s assurance of a government job, suitable assistance for the kin, the protest was called off around 8.15 pm and traffic was restored.
A senior MES officer, who also reached the spot from Rajouri, assured about assistance/ pension as per rules.
He said that the contractor has been asked to provide immediate assistance to the family for the last rites of the deceased.
Taking cognizance of the incident the police have also started an investigation. After conducting the post-mortem at Sub district hospital at Nowshera and medico-legal formalities, the police handed over the body to legal heirs for his last rites.
The commuters faced a tough time during the blockade of the highway.
