RAJOURI DEC 23:-Tragedy struck in the bustling Kalakot market on Saturday evening when a 56-year-old pedestrian succumbed to injuries after being struck by a speeding motorcycle. The victim, identified as Vishwa Mitra, a resident of Suma, was walking along the roadside when the accident occurred.
Eyewitnesses reported that the motorcycle, traveling at high speed, hit Mitra from behind, leaving him critically injured. Local residents quickly rushed him to Kalakot Hospital, where he received initial treatment. However, due to the severity of his injuries, he was referred to Government Medical College in Rajouri. Despite the doctors’ efforts, Mitra passed away during treatment.
The Kalakot police have registered a case and initiated an investigation into the incident. Following a post-mortem examination, the body was handed over to the deceased’s family for last rites.
Authorities have urged motorists to exercise caution, particularly in crowded areas, to prevent such tragic incidents. Further details on the case are awaited as the investigation continues.
