JAMMU FEBRUARY 11:-Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today inaugurated the Agriculture Summit and Kisan Mela organised by Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST), Jammu. Addressing farmers, scientists, agricultural experts and students, the Lieutenant Governor underscored the transformative role of technology, particularly Artificial Intelligence, in strengthening the agriculture sector.
Speaking on the theme ‘AI-Powered Advanced Agriculture’, the LG said that agriculture and allied sectors serve as the ultimate insurance policy for any developing society or nation and cannot be ignored under any circumstances. He highlighted that innovation-driven farming practices, data-based decision-making, and modern technological interventions are essential to enhance productivity, sustainability and farmers’ incomes.
Emphasising the critical role of the scientific community, the Lieutenant Governor stated that scientists and officers must realise that the fate of civilisation hangs on every seed sown in the soil. He described agriculture as one of the key sectors that secures both national advancement and human welfare, asserting that it will continue to guarantee progress despite global turbulence.
Referring to the challenges posed by climate change and economic uncertainties, the LG said that agriculture and allied sectors have consistently acted as pillars of stability. “Despite relentless tests by various challenges, one truth remains unscathed — agriculture will keep us stable and our citizens prosperous,” he remarked.
Highlighting the government’s vision, the Lieutenant Governor reiterated that the ‘Agriculture First’ policy will pave the way for a Developed India and an Aatmanirbhar Jammu & Kashmir. He called for greater collaboration between farmers, researchers, agri-entrepreneurs and policymakers to accelerate the adoption of advanced technologies and sustainable practices.
The Agriculture Summit and Kisan Mela witnessed enthusiastic participation from farmers, agri-startups, self-help groups and stakeholders from across the region, showcasing innovative models, modern equipment and value-added agricultural products.
