RAJOURI MAY 20:--Over an alleged old rivalry, two groups of bhul persons clashed on the sidelines of a election rally, attended by Dr Farooq Abdullah and NC candidate for 3-Anantnag-Rajouri PC, Mian Altaf in Mendhar on Sunday in which three youth got injured due to knife attack and one among them is critical.
Eyewitnesses said that in the presence of a huge deployment of security forces, the accused persons attacked the victims with a knife.
One of the organisers of the political rally said that the attackers were outsiders and a case has been registered against them.
He expressed concern over the deteriorating security scenario in the district and demanded the arrest of the culprits within 24 hours.
The incident happened around 12.30 pm just before the arrival of Dr Farooq Abdullah along with Mian Altaf Ahmed Larvi at the playground of GDC Mendhar.
The injured have been identified as Mohd Imran (27) s/o Mohd Akram resident of Kasblari; Sohail Ahmed (19) s/o Mohd Bashir resident of Galuta; and Yaseer Ahmed (22) s/o Shabir Ahmed r/o Galuta Harni.
All the three were immediately shifted to sub district hospital at Mendhar where doctors provided initial emergency treatment.
Later two injured namely, Yaseer Ahmed and Sohail Ahmed were referred to Associated Hospital Government Medical College (AHGMC) Rajouri for specialised treatment.
“One among the two patients is critical and had undergone 3-hours long surgery by a team of doctors including Consultant Surgery, Dr Shahid Anjum; anaesthetist, Dr Saba Wani; anaesthesia & OT technicians, Rohit Singh, and Sahil Sharma. Both the patients are under treatment in ICU,” said Medical Superintendent, AH GMC, Dr Mehmood Hussain.
Hospital sources said that the condition of Yaseer is critical and doctors, nursing staff, & Paramedics putting all efforts to save his life.
Sources said that the police have registered a case in this matter and efforts are being made to arrest the accused.
Later people held a protest march in Mendhar town demanding justice for the victims.
