SRINAGAR OCT 30:-Yesterday, an important meeting took place with the Chief Minister where various trade issues were discussed.
The particular concern was the issue raised by the KCCI regarding MPA involvement in certain matters. It was brought to light that some associations have been pushing for a restructure from banks, particularly those who have taken loans amounting to 100 crores. This is a significant amount that the general trade sector has not typically dealt with in the past.
The concern arises from certain individuals who have borrowed such large sums from banks and instead of opting for a One-Time Settlement (OTS), are demanding a restructure of their loans. This has caused distress among the general trade community, which does not wish to be associated with those who are seeking more lenient terms from financial institutions. The request put forth by SKT&C to waive off the outstanding amounts for struggling general traders is reflective of the dire situation faced by many in the business community.
In this regard, KCCI has played a commendable role in representing the concerns of general traders and advocating for relief measures to be implemented by the government. It is hoped that in the near future, the government will take positive steps to alleviate the financial burdens faced by traders and offer some respite from the mounting pressures imposed by banks.
The President of SKT&C has issued an urgent plea to all associations to prioritize the greater good of the trade industry over their individual interests. In recent times, the SKT&C has been inundated with calls from traders who are struggling and in need of relief, rather than drastic restructurings that may only serve to benefit a few. It is vital that all parties involved come together to find solutions that will benefit the trade as a whole, rather than focusing only on personal gains. By working towards a common goal of enhancing the trade industry as a whole, we can ensure a brighter future for all involved.
