RAJOURI OCT 31:-The Jammu and Kashmir Dairy Cooperative Union Limited (JKDCUL), functioning as the Cluster-Based Business Organisation (CBBO) for Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs), organised an Awareness-cum-Training Camp at Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Rajouri for Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) and Board of Directors of various FPOs from the district.
The programme aimed at strengthening the managerial and organisational capacities of FPOs, promoting cooperative principles, and encouraging membership expansion to build robust farmer collectives. FPOs supported by NABARD and NCDC participated actively in the camp.
Prominent speakers including Vikrant Dogra, Chairman, Jammu & Kashmir Dairy Federation Cooperative Ltd and UNNATI; Sunil Choudhary from JKDCUL (CBBO); Dr. Arvind Isher, Chief Scientist and Head, KVK Rajouri; and Farooq Inqlabi, Abdul Qayoom, and Sajad Ahmed representing various FPOs, shared valuable insights on improving governance, capacity building, and strengthening market linkages.
Officials from the Cooperative Department, including the Assistant Registrar and Supervisors, also addressed the participants, highlighting the crucial role of cooperative institutions in supporting FPOs and guiding them towards self-reliance and sustainable growth.
Addressing the gathering, Vikrant Dogra urged FPOs to focus on increasing membership, maintaining transparency, and fostering collective participation for long-term sustainability. He emphasised cooperation, innovation, and accountability as key drivers for improving productivity and enhancing the socio-economic conditions of farmers.
In his concluding remarks, Dogra extended gratitude to Rajesh Verma, Chief Agriculture Officer, Rajouri; Chander Baradwaj, District Development Manager, NABARD; and Dr. Arvind Isher, Chief Scientist and Head, KVK Rajouri, for their guidance, technical support, and cooperation in promoting farmer-centric initiatives.
The event concluded with an interactive session during which participants discussed operational challenges and explored strategies to improve coordination among farmers, cooperatives, and government departments.
The training camp was widely appreciated by participants and recognised as a significant step by JKDCUL (CBBO) in empowering Farmer Producer Organisations supported by NABARD and NCDC, thereby promoting sustainable rural livelihoods in Rajouri district.
