RAJOURI, MAY 14:– In the wake of intensified cross-border shelling by Pakistani forces, Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) President Tariq Hamid Karra visited the affected areas of Rajouri district to assess the ground situation and express solidarity with the impacted civilians.
During his visit, Karra toured several shelling-hit villages along the Line of Control (LoC) and met with residents who have borne the brunt of recent hostilities. Locals shared their harrowing experiences, recounting the destruction of property, injuries to civilians, and the psychological trauma induced by frequent shelling. Many families have reportedly been displaced and are living in temporary shelters with limited access to basic necessities.
Speaking to reporters, the PCC President said, “The situation in the border areas is extremely concerning. Immediate intervention is required from both the state and central governments to provide relief and ensure the safety of civilians.” He emphasized the need for improved shelter facilities, prompt medical aid, and compensation for those who have suffered losses due to the shelling.
Karra also made a pointed remark on the broader geopolitical implications of the ongoing ceasefire violations. “Any third-party intervention in the ceasefire arrangement between India and Pakistan goes against the established foreign policy of the Indian state,” he stated, reiterating India’s long-standing position of resolving bilateral issues directly with Pakistan, without external mediation.
The visit by the PCC President comes at a time when tensions along the LoC remain high, and political leaders are under increasing pressure to address both the immediate humanitarian needs and the strategic dimensions of the crisis.
