NEW DELHI SEPT 25:-J&K Jal Shakti Minister Javed Rana today met Union Jal Shakti Minister C. R. Patil in New Delhi to discuss key issues related to the ongoing Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) and the state’s water infrastructure.
During the meeting, Rana informed the Union Minister that thousands of schemes under JJM are progressing steadily across Jammu and Kashmir, with many nearing completion. He urged the Centre’s continued support to sustain the momentum and achieve the mission’s target of “Har Ghar Jal”—safe drinking water to every rural household.
The J&K Minister also apprised Patil of the extensive damage caused by recent flash floods, which affected more than 4,000 Jal Shakti schemes and multiple irrigation systems. He stressed the urgent need for restoration and additional assistance from the Centre.
Expressing gratitude for the Union Minister’s positive response and assurances, Rana reiterated that the Omar Abdullah-led Government remains committed to ensuring reliable drinking water supply and building climate-resilient infrastructure for the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
