  •  Rajouri, March, 08: District Administration Rajouri on Monday celebrated the International Women day with the theme, “Choose the Challenge” & Women in leadership, achieving an equal future in a COVID-19 world.” 
  • On the occasion, grand programmes were organised at Peer Panjal Next Gen Super School Dhangri (Himalayan Super School) & SVS College where Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Rajesh K Shavan was the chief guest during the events.
  • Block Dev. Chairperson Dhangri Mrs. Tazeem Akhter, SE Jal Shakti, SR Shukla; PO ICDS, Kartar Singh; ACD, Sushil Khajuria; DSEO (Nodal Officer, BBBP)  Bilal Rashid Mir; CEO, Gulzar Hussain; DPO, Chander Kant Bhagat; CMO, Dr Shamim Un Nissa Bhatti; Ex-En PWD Mohd Zubair, Ex-En PHE, Mushtaq Ahmed, Ex-En PMGSY Mr. Kappor,  DSWO, Wakeel Ahmed Bhatt, Women Welfare Officer Dr. Anum Mirza besides other district officers, prominent citizens. and students were also present on the occasion.
  • The day is marked to honor all the women and their achievements regardless of the divisions, whether national, ethnic, linguistic, cultural, economic or political.
  • A number of speakers spoke during the event and highlighted the significance of the day and discussed the ways as to how women can be made equal partners in the decision-making process especially with regard to policy making. The speakers also raised awareness about the importance of fresh water and talked about the ways how this precious gift of nature can be conserved.
  • The students also presented cultural item based on women empowerment which were highly appreciated by the audience present on the occasions and Kawali was also ptesented by a Studnet of Intetnational HSS Rajouri.
  • Women Welfare Officer, Dr. Anum Mirza while speaking on the occasion said that women are treading new paths to achieve socio-political and economic empowerment and we all should not only appreciate their endeavours but also help them in achieving equality in the real sense of the term. She also threw a detailed light on a number of women oriented schemes being launched by the Government from time to time and the women folk were motivated to avail the benefits of the same.
  • Nodal Officer BBBP, Bilal Rashid Mir in his address highlighted a number of steps being taken by the District Administration Rajouri for women empowerment and their upliftment in the society like plantation and swachata drives, distribution of sanitary kits among girls, Ration Kits etc to the poor girls during COVID19 to facilitate them in their online studies, stationery kits, sanitizers and masks amid COVID19 under BBBP, launch of pink vehicles exclusively for women and providing of Services through One Stop Centre for Women at the door step of Public and Presented detailed Power Point Presentation in this regard.
  • In his address, the Deputy Commissioner threw light on the importance and contribution of the women in the society and said that women are nowhere less than the boys in any manner and have shown their calibre in all the fields of life.
  • Deputy Commissioner said that women empowerment means making the women empowered physically, mentally, socially and economically so that they can take all important decisions of their lives and stand on their own. He said that the need of an hour is to just provide the women the opportunity and the environment to help them realise their potential so that they can contribute more and more in the development of the Nation. He also appealed the elder women Group, to treat the Daughter-in-laws as their own daughters, to avoid any domestic issues.
  • Deputy Commissioner also informed that the District Administration Rajouri is making persistent efforts to ensure the socio economic development of the women and necessary steps are being taken in this regard. He also said that  a number of schemes are being launched by the Government for the welfare of women folk and urged upon them to avail the benefits of the same.
  • Deputy Commissioner informed that the District Administration has decided to promote jute bags to avoid the usage of polythene and other single use plastic in the district and urged upon the women to constitute their self Help groups to manufacture the jute bags and other green alternatives to single use plastic to make the district clean and green.
  • Deputy Commissioner also said that, similar programmes on women Day and Jal Jeevan Mission are being organised all over the District at all Block Headquarters and at various Educational Institutions. He also emphasized on the Use of Water and its Conservation, so that Women may not suffer any more and each family may get  get “Har Ghar Nal Se Jal”. 
  • On the occasion, a book namely ‘Mehv e- Hairat’ was also released by the Deputy Commissioner written by Miss. Near Qureshi, Student of Himalayn Degree College Rajouri and presented a Shawl to her
  • Deputy Commissioner also distributed stationery kits, Swachata kits and shawls among the girls students under BBBP besides skill development kits were also distributed among them. DC also facilitated five women achievers who have shown their calibre in different fields by distributing awards of excellence among them in SVS College besides prizes were distributed among the girl students who spoke on the occasion.
  • Prominent among others, who spoke on the occasion were Mr. Mohd Muslim Wani & Retd. ADDC Subhash Sharma, Mrs. Krishna Principal Valley View Public School and remained Present Were Manzoor Malik, Nisar Hussain Rahi, Azam Shah, Bharat Bushan and others.
  • Similar programmes were organised in all the 19 Blocks of the District with great enthusiasm and Rallies were organised to generate the awareness among Public under the banner of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, under the supervision Concerned Addl. Deputy Commissioners.
