**No false narratives can change facts/evidences against criminals: Rajouri police

RAJOURI JAN 30:-Reacting strongly to false and misleading claims made before the media by certain individuals, Rajouri police claimed that these individuals have a history of criminal activities, including drug peddling and other offences.
In a statement issued on Thursday (January 30), Rajouri Police said: “It has come to the notice of Rajouri Police that certain individuals with a history of criminal activities are making false and misleading claims in the media, to defame Rajouri Police and distort facts,”.
Giving details about the criminal history of these individuals, including who spoke to media in Jammu, police said that three members of a family are involved in criminal activities and have been booked several times under various sections of law.
Police said one Haroon Rashid son of Abdul Rashid resident of Ward No.2 Rajouri is a notorious drug trafficker with a history of drug peddling and other offences.
He has 11 FIRs registered against him under various sections of the RPC, NDPS Act, and BNS.
He was also detained under PITNDPS in 2022 due to his continued involvement in drug trafficking, police added.
Haroon’s brother Mubassar Rashid (son of Abdul Rashid R/o Ward No. 02 Rajouri), who addressed the media in Jammu, himself faces criminal charges in FIRs, including FIR No. 01/2024 and FIR No. 481/2024.
Rajouri police further said that Parveen Akhtar wife of Harron Rashid R/o Ward No.2 Rajouri is also a known offender with four FIRs under the NDPS Act and has been booked under PITNDPS in 2024 for her involvement in drug-related crimes.
“The facts however remain clear and irrefutable. Continuous involvement of these individuals in drug peddling and other offences over the years speaks for itself,” said Rajouri police.
“Their attempts to mislead the public and portray themselves as victims are nothing more than an effort to evade legal action,” police added.
*Rajouri Police said that it remains committed to taking strict action against drug peddlers and criminals who endanger society.
The law will take its due course against individuals involved in criminal activities, and no false narratives can change the hard facts and evidence against them.
The police have appealed to the people not to fall for such baseless claims and to continue supporting the police in our mission to eradicate crime and drugs from society.
It is pertinent to mention here that on January 27, Haroon Rashid was arrested by Rajouri police along with 6 grams of heroin-like-substance (Chitta) and was booked under case FIR No.53/2025 at Rajouri police station under relevant sections of sections of law.
“Haroon is a notorious drug peddler from Rajouri, who has been involved in several FIRs under the NDPS Act. His wife has also been involved in drug trafficking and was recently booked under the PITNDPS,” said police.
