SRINAGAR JULY 23:-BJP senior leader Manzoor Bhat has strongly condemned the recent incident of physical assault on doctors at SMHS hospital. “I strongly believe that the government must take immediate and concrete steps to ensure the safety and security of healthcare professionals,” Bhat said.
“The lack of adequate security measures in hospitals is a serious concern that needs to be addressed urgently,” he added. “The doctor-patient relationship is crucial and should be built on mutual respect and trust. Doctors must also be empathetic and sensitive towards patients and their families.”
Bhat also highlighted the need for concrete steps to address issues faced by patients in the emergency department of SMHS hospital during evening hours. “Patients and their families often complain about the lack of care and attention from doctors, who are mostly junior,” he said.
“The Omar Abdullah government should ensure that specialist doctors are available during evening shifts to provide quality care and attention to patients.”
Additionally, Bhat suggested that hospitals should have better facilities and security arrangements to ensure patients’ safety and well-being. “A help desk can also be set up in hospitals where patients can report their concerns and get immediate assistance,” he said. “This would provide relief to patients and ensure their voices are heard. By taking these steps, hospitals can improve patient care and satisfaction.”
Bhat emphasized the need to create a culture of respect and empathy towards healthcare professionals. “Patients and their families must understand the critical role doctors play in their treatment, and doctors must also strive to provide compassionate care,” he said.
“The Omar Abdullah Government should take this matter seriously and implement concrete measures to prevent such incidents in the future.”
