JAIPUR FEBRUARY 11:-When IAS officer Jitendra Kumar Soni noticed children walking to school in torn footwear during the harsh winter months, he did not look away — he chose to act. What began as a simple act of empathy evolved into Charan Paduka Abhiyan, a large-scale welfare initiative that has so far provided shoes to over 1.76 lakh students. The campaign’s success has led to its replication across multiple districts in Rajasthan.

Hailing from a farmer’s family and having faced financial hardships during his early life, Soni’s journey into the civil services was shaped by personal struggles. Today, however, it is not merely his administrative rank that defines him, but the tangible impact of his compassion-led governance on lakhs of lives.
Among his notable initiatives is Rakhtakosh, a technology-enabled blood donor platform that connects patients’ families with donors, particularly for rare blood groups such as O-negative. The platform has reportedly helped save more than 8,000 lives by bridging critical gaps during medical emergencies.

In the field of education, Soni introduced Vidyapravahini, a “school-on-wheels” initiative aimed at reaching children in underserved and remote areas. Complementing this effort is E-Gyankendra, a free educational Wi-Fi programme designed to enhance digital access for students. The initiative witnessed over 9,000 GB of educational content downloaded in its first month alone, reflecting strong community engagement.

Officials and citizens alike credit Soni’s approach as a model of governance rooted in empathy, innovation, and practical action. His initiatives underscore how responsive administration, backed by technology and compassion, can bring measurable change to society.

Through sustained efforts across health, education, and social welfare, IAS officer Jitendra Kumar Soni continues to demonstrate that effective governance is not just about policy — it is about people.
