JAMMU AUGUST 01:– In a proud and historic moment for the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir, the Sub Junior Men’s Hockey Team (J&K UT) was honoured today in a grand felicitation ceremony for their remarkable performance in the 15th Hockey India Sub Junior Men’s National Championship 2025, held in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
The team created history by qualifying from Division C to Division B—a feat achieved after a long gap—signaling a new era for hockey in the region. To recognise their outstanding performance and unwavering dedication, the players were felicitated with cash prizes.
Demonstrating exceptional skill and determination, the J&K team won both of their pool matches. They secured a commanding 4–1 victory over Rajasthan in the first match, followed by a tightly contested 1–0 win against Pondicherry in the second.
The event was graced by Jatinder Mishra (JKAS, Deputy Director, YSS Department) as the Chief Guest, accompanied by S. Satpal Singh (Divisional Sports Officer, JKSC).
S.Tejinder Singh (Secretary, Hockey J&K), Robin Singh (Executive Member, Hockey J&K), and Mr. Ajay Gupta (Incharge, K.K. Hakku Stadium), who applauded the team’s efforts and encouraged them to continue striving for excellence.

The felicitation ceremony was organised by Hockey Jammu & Kashmir, in collaboration with the J&K Sports Council. Over the past few months, Hockey J&K has been working tirelessly to uplift the game in the Union Territory by nurturing young players, providing them with opportunities, and ensuring their participation at the national stage. Their consistent efforts have not only revived hockey in J&K but also inspired a new wave of passion and commitment among the youth.
This celebration was not just about honouring the present achievement but also about laying the foundation for a brighter future for hockey in the region—fuelled by Hockey J&K’s vision and dedication.
