-BJP leader Manzoor Naik demands educational equality, Adequate infrastructure & staff
RAJOURI FEBRUARY 05:–Three teachers for 180 students, two rooms for ten classes, lack of basic amenities like water connection, hand wash facilities, functional toilets, computer laboratory, library etc at government high school Gundi in Rajouri district speaks lot about the tall claims of the State Government & Education Department of providing quality education to students in remote areas.
A local prominent BJP leader Manzoor Naik, who recently visited high school Gundi, blamed the Education Department responsible for the present condition of this school and urged for prompt administrative intervention to tackle the pressing issues.
This school was first established as a primary school in 1956 in Gundi village of Khawas Education Zone and was upgraded to middle standard in 2006.
It was upgraded to high school in 2019 and since then is grappling with challenges due to the lack of support from the School Education Department.
At present the student enrolment is 180 and the department has provided only three teachers.
The school has two rooms for three classes & whenever there is inclement weather, teachers declare a holiday as they find it difficult to manage the classes in the open.
Manzoor Naik emphasizes the need for immediate action to rectify the inadequate infrastructure and essential facilities required for the institution’s growth.
“The startling student-teacher ratio at GHS Gundi is currently at 60:1, revealing a severeshortage of resources and an urgent demand for intervention. The school, unfortunately, lacks fundamental amenities such as water connections, hand wash facilities, functional toilets, computer labs, drinking water facilities, and a library,” said Manzoor Naik.
This deficiency not only creates unhygienic conditions for students but also poses a significant barrier to their educational progress in an era heavily dependent on technology,” he added.
Despite government order (No. 2173-JK(Edu) dt 1/12/2022) rationalisation of teaching staff till the end of academic session 2023-24, the CEO office Rajouri has badly failed to provide required teaching staff in Govt high school Gundi.gd
The neglect of the Education Department is adversely affecting the educational development of students and hindering the school’s ability to adapt to modern educational requirements.
Manzoor Naik calls upon the authorities to prioritize GHS Gundi and allocate the necessary0 resources to uplift the educational standards.
Manzoor Naik has warned of a large-scale protest along with students and their parents if the School Education Department failed to improve the educational facilities and provide adequate staff for the students of GHS Gundi.
