Gujjar-Bakarwal students seek inspection of food provided to them at Hostel in Chatroo, says unhygienic food being served since many years,

JAMMU April 02:– The students of Gujjar-Bakerwal Hostel Chatroo alleged misappropriation of funds and harassment by I/C Warden since from several years. Talking to media, students said that unhygienic food is served to them in hostel since from several years and when they make complaint regarding this, the I/C Warden of Hostel harasses and threatened to restraint them from hostel premises. Adding that, Hostel was opened in 2012, for poor and orphan students across Kishtwar district and every year 50 students from different hamlets are enrolled for which Rs. 100/student/day is paid by government for every student.

Students complains serving of unhygienic food and misappropriation of funds including food, stationary, uniform and maintenance of other establishment including sleeping mattrasses, blankets and providing of daily needs things. Students further added that during the outbreak of deadly virus and starting of academic session 2021, No masks and sanitizers nor SOP equipment’s are provided to them till to date. Adding that in case of minor ailments, no medical facility and hygiene food is provided to them and they all have to manage for their own expenses.

A Orphan student said that I seeks admission in Hostel to avail benefit of government schemes but unfortunately nothing is being utilized by I/C Warden and I have to manage all dues from own. Adding that, if government claims free education and hostel facilities to students belonging from Gujjar-Bakerwal community than what is happening here in Gujjar-Bakerwal Hostel Chatroo.

Students alleged that since from opening of hostel, no administrative head and elected representative inspected the hostel to take stock of requirements and checkout of the students and even to inspect the food served in the hostel.

It is important to mention that after the exclusive reportage by Local Correspondent, the I/C Warden tries to emotionally blackmail him to hide up the issue by not exposing and bringing the unbelievable facts and reality of Gujjar Bakerwal Hostel Chatroo in public domain.

While talking to Correspondent, the Local Correspondent informed that, students of Gujjar-Bakerwal Hostel Chatroo seek personal intervention of DSE Jammu and District Administration Kishtwar to inspect food served at Hostel and initiate free and fair inquiry into the alleged misappropriation of funds meant for students and demanded stern action against I/C Warden of Hostel.

While contacting with I/C Warden Mr. Shakir Naik, He said all the allegations levelled by students upon him are baseless and false but due to some codal formalities, we cannot provide stationery and uniform to students in time bound manner. Adding that we are paying our hectic efforts for providing every facility to students. Mr. Shakir Naik further added that Sub Divisional Magistrate Chatroo is today inspecting the Hostel premises and will also holds interactive session with students.

It is pertinent to mention that will District Administration Kishtwar and Director School Education Jammu constitute a team to inspect Gujjar-Bakerwal Hostel Chatroo, it is yet to be mentioned.
