BUDHAL January 07:—Sarpanches, panch and local people of Budhal today protested against the government at Budhal of Kotranka sub-division in Rajouri district saying that attendance of workers working under MNREGA through National Mobile Monitoring System is unfair to the labor class.
Social activist and Sarpanch Farooq Inqlabi while addressing the protesters said that this decision of the government is completely wrong and cannot be accepted under any circumstances. He said that an order has been issued to the workers in the rural development office to attend twice a day under the National Mobile Monitoring System, due to which there is frustration among the workers.
Farooq Inqlabi said that instead of giving employment to poor people, the government is taking away the employment they already have.
Farooq Inqlabi said that Jammu and Kashmir is a mountainous state where it is not only difficult but impossible to work in this way.
He said that if the government does not withdraw this decision, then lakhs of workers will become unemployed.
Addressing the protestors, Sarpanch Shabir Kamlak said that the people of backward areas in the state are still deprived of basic facilities and the government has not paid attention to their improvement. He said that by imposing biometric attendance twice in the rural development office, the government’s intention is clear that they want to take away the jobs of lakhs of workers working under MNREGA.
He said that womens in backward areas also work under MGNREGA, which will not be able to work now.
The protesters have demanded the government to withdraw this decision immediately. The protesters said that if the government does not withdraw this decision, they will hold a massive protest against the government in Budhal on January 10.
