RAJOURI, JULY 06:-‘With an aim to ensure better administration and quality public grievance with better outcomes for the aggrieved thereby guaranteeing efficient disposal of official business, the Lt Governor-led Administrative Council of UT of J&K has given approval for the establishment of a separate Public Grievances Department.
The Administrative Council (AC) which met in Srinagar on Thursday under the chairmanship of Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha gave approval to the establishment of the Department of Public Grievances (DoPG) as a separate Administrative Department.
The creation of the Department of Public Grievances is bad news for corrupt, lethargic government employees.
At the same time, the people have welcomed the decision as a major development to tackle the menace of corruption and bureaucratic red-tapism they are facing during their visits to government offices.
The Administrative Council meeting was attended by Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar, Advisor to the Lieutenant Governor, Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar; Dr. Arun Kumar Mehta, Chief Secretary J&K, Dr. Arun Kumar Mehta; and Principal Secretary to Lieutenant Governor, Mandeep Kumar Bandhari.
The official press briefing said that earlier, the subject of ‘Redressal of Public Grievances’ was assigned to the Administrative Reforms, Inspections, Training, and Grievances Department.
This administrative reform measure is in line with the government’s commitment that envisages promoting citizen-centric governance with an emphasis on grievance redressal innovations through e-Governance.
