RAJOURI MAY 30:-A historic milestone was marked today at the Government Medical College (GMC) Rajouri as its first-ever batch of MBBS students officially passed out after completing their mandatory one-year internship. The batch, inducted in 2019, has now transitioned from students to full-fledged doctors, with the prestigious title of ‘Dr.’ formally prefixed to their names.

Established in 2019, GMC Rajouri began its journey with an inaugural cohort of 100 MBBS students. Over the past five years, these students have undergone rigorous academic and clinical training. With the successful completion of their internship, they have now emerged as qualified medical professionals.

To commemorate this landmark occasion, the college administration organized a grand convocation ceremony on the GMC campus in Mehra, Rajouri. The event witnessed the presence of Principal Dr. A.S. Bhatia, senior faculty members, and jubilant students. Dignitaries including Jammu and Kashmir’s Health Minister Sakina Itoo, Secretary Health Syed Abid Shah, and eminent medical educators from across the country addressed the gathering via video conference, extending their congratulations and best wishes.

Principal Dr. A.S. Bhatia, in his address, hailed the day as a moment of pride not just for the college, but for the entire Pir Panjal region. “This is a historic day. These young doctors represent the future of healthcare in the region and beyond,” he said.

The event symbolized not only the culmination of academic pursuit for the students but also the beginning of their responsibilities as healthcare providers. The graduating doctors expressed their gratitude towards the faculty and administration for their guidance and support throughout their journey.

As GMC Rajouri sends out its first batch of doctors into the world, the institution has firmly positioned itself as a rising hub of medical education in Jammu and Kashmir.
