SRINAGAR AUGUST 01:-Gandhi Global Family (GGF) organized a simple yet impressive felicitation ceremony at the Cultural Academy, Lal Mandi, Srinagar, to honour volunteers who worked tirelessly in providing relief to families affected by cross-border shelling in Baramulla and Kupwara districts during and after Operation Sindoor.
The event was presided over by Padma Bhushan Ghulam Nabi Azad, President of Gandhi Global Family, who felicitated 15 dedicated individuals from GGF and other associated organizations with the Mahatma Gandhi Rashtra Sewa Medal for their exemplary service.
Among the dignitaries honoured on the occasion were Prof. G.M. Bhat, Mrs. Roma Wani, Mrs. Dil Afrooz Qazi, and Mrs. Babita Bhat, who were recognised by the august gathering for their continued contributions to social welfare.
In his address, the chief guest congratulated the awardees and expressed hope for peace, progress, and prosperity in Jammu and Kashmir, reiterating that a unified approach by the people can help realize Mahatma Gandhi’s vision of harmony and non-violence, first witnessed during his visit to Kashmir in 1947.
The program commenced with a welcome address by Padma Dr. S.P. Varma, while Mrs. Mehjabeen Bhat presented the vote of thanks. The proceedings were smoothly conducted by Mr. Malik Noor-ul-Amin, General Secretary of GGF.
The 15 awardees who received the Mahatma Gandhi Rashtra Sewa Medal included Ms. Mehjabeen Nabi, Ms. Mehjabeen Bhat, Adv. Syed Qoomdeen, Mr. Shabir Ahmad Shah, Mr. Omar Shah, Mr. Lateef Ahmad Shahdaad, Mr. Riyaz Ahmad Shah, Dr. Itandir Singh Bali, Ms. Jimmy Jolly, Mr. Rafiq Wani, Mrs. Anita Chandpuri, Ms. Saleema Parveen, Dr. Afroz, Mr. Umer Qazi, and Mr. Yogeshwar Raina. The event highlighted the spirit of volunteerism and the commitment of civil society towards humanitarian causes in challenging circumstances.
