Rajouri March 10:–3585 out of targeted 57817 senior citizens above 60 years (3550 vaccinated) and persons between 45-59 years with co-morbidities (35 vaccinated) have been vaccinated since March1, when Rajouri health department opens up vaccination for them.
Forty two centers, including at primary health centers (PHCs), community health Centers (CHCs), sub district hospitals (SDHs), urban health centre (UHC), MCH & GMC&AH, across the district have been identified for the vaccination.These centers are located in Sunderbani, Nowshera, Kalakot, Kotranka, Manjakot & Darhal health blocks respectively.
Chief Medical Officer, Dr.Shamim-un-Nisa said that senior citizens above 60 years and the persons with co-morbidities, between 45-59 years can get the covid-19 vaccination at these centers under second phase between 10 am to 3 pm (at PHC level) and up to 3.30 pm at block level.
No vaccination will be done on every Sunday, Wednesday and gazetted holidays.
Aadhar Card is mandatory for the vaccination but those having no Aadhar card can bring PAN card for identification.According to official sources 16977 persons have been vaccinated in the district till today. Out of targeted 4880 health care workers 4574 (94%) have taken first dose while out of targeted 9049 front line workers 6964 (77%) have received first dose.Official sources said that 1854 health care/front line workers have also received the second shot till today.
Reliable sources said that people in majority community dominated areas coming in less number for the vaccination while people in minority community areas going for vaccination in large number.
Campaign against vaccination at religious level, political parties level (those opposing BJP), on social media networks etc, are among many reasons forcing the majority community members not to go for the vaccination.
At many places it has been observed that only those who have applied for the Hajj pilgrimage coming for vaccination because Saudi Arab has made the vaccination mandatory for Hajj pilgrimage.
“Efforts are being made to aware the people to receive the covid-19 vaccine for protecting themselves against this deadly disease. Even today Deputy Commissioner and SSP in a public meeting have appealed to the people to come forward for vaccination,” said CMO.
