Residents of Bathindi area appealed JMC authorities to install dustbins in the locality and provide regular safaiwalas for disposal of domestic waste.

“There are no JMC dustbins in the colony. Besides, no regular safailwalas have been provided to the colony due to which many residents are forced to throw the waste in open causing pollution in the area,”

“Pungent smell emanating from the garbage dumps has made our lives miserable. We appeal the JMC Commissioner to look into the matter,” they said.

“The garbage dumps in the stream have become breeding ground of mosquitoes and parasites,” said Mohd Ibrar, a resident.

The stream flows through the main town and most of the shops and business establishments are located on either side.
Health experts warn that the presence of tons of garbage in the town can pose a threat to the inhabitants.

“Heaps of garbage in the town is harmful for people especially students and children as it can cause various diseases among them. The garbage should be lifted and scientifically dumped far away from human habitations,” said Dr. Waqar Ahmad, a local resident.
