Rajouri, Janu 27:-.Five Officers of different govt departments have been awarded for their outstanding contributions in the recently implemented Juvenile Justice Act in District Rajouri of Jammu and Kashmir.
The officers selected for award include an Ex Additional Deputy Commissioner , District Social Welfare Officer, Station House Officer and two officials of ICPS department have received appreciations from the District Development Commissioner Rajouri on the recommendations of CWC.
Juvenile Justice Act , which has been implemented in February 2018 through the ICPS department with two statutory bodies of Juvenile Justice Board and the Child Welfare Committee to serve as the courts for the children below the age of eighteen years to deal with and dispose off all such cases as are related to the juveniles.
Both the statutory bodies are vested with the judicial powers and are the absolute authorities on the children’s issues in the district.
While JJB is headed by a principal magistrate to dispose off the cases of children in conflict with law,the CWC is a bench of magistrates headed by a chairperson to deal with and dispose off the cases of children in need of care and Protection . The chairperson of the CWC is vested with the powers of a Judicial magistrate. The CWC has the additional powers to oversee and take interventions with all the departments, organisations and agencies( Govt as well as NGOs), dealing with or housing the children below eighteen years.
The chairperson of the CWC functions as the team lead to ensure that the rights of the children are not marred in whatever circumstances.
In an years time, Rajouri became the first district of the state to have achieved the targets and has been declared the model district for having implemented the recently passed JJ Act successfully.
RAJOURI was declared the model district recently by Honble Justice Hasnain Masoodi who is currently heading the Selection Cum Oversight Committee of the state for implementation of the Act as Chairperson.
The names of all the four recipients Shafiq Ahmad ( KAS) Ex. ADDITIONAL DEPUTY COMMISSIONER KOTERANKA, M. Naseeb Bajran ( KAS) District Social Welfare Officer Rajouri,Manzoor Ahmad Kohli Station House Officer Koteranka , Mrs Shivangi Kant Legal Officer and Miss Nidhi Sharma out reach worker ICPS department were recommended by the CWC headed by its Chairperson Mohd Iqbal Shawl in recognition of their valuable services towards the issues of the juvenile children and implementation of the JJAct in the District.
The awards were presented to the officers by Aijaz Asad District Development Commissioner Rajouri on the seventieth Republic Day.
Talking to media, The chairperson cwc Rajouri Mohd Iqbal Shawl and Mrs.Anuradha Sharma said that all these officers had extended extraordinary support to implement the Act successfully in their areas of operation. On this occasion Hon’ble Chairperson and Mrs. Sharma member CWC said while expressing tremendous satisfaction that Juvenile Justice Family Is happy and contended to have such officers of credibility and dedication in the administration who think and act seriously over the problems of the children.
The chairperson congratulated the recipients of the award and wishes them a glorious future .
