RAJOURI DEC 24:-In a major administrative action, five doctors of the Associated Hospital Government Medical College (AHGMC) Rajouri were suspended for alleged dereliction of duty following the tragic death of a pregnant woman. The woman, a resident of the Badhaal area, had recently suffered the devastating loss of three children due to a highly infectious pathogen in her locality.

The incident occurred during the night shift on December 22, when the woman was brought to the hospital’s casualty and gynecology departments. Initial reports suggest lapses in the provision of timely medical care. In addition to the suspension of the five doctors on duty, authorities have sought explanations from two on-call consultants and seven pharmacists and nurses who were part of the night shift team.

The woman’s death has sparked outrage in the community, with many questioning the hospital’s preparedness and response to critical cases. Sources indicate that the deceased woman had been battling severe health complications, exacerbated by the recent deaths of her children from an infectious disease that has raised alarms in the Badhaal area.

Hospital authorities have initiated an internal investigation to determine the exact cause of the incident and the role of the suspended staff. The Deputy Commissioner and senior health officials have assured the public of stringent action against any negligence.

This tragedy sheds light on the growing healthcare challenges in rural areas like Rajouri, where insufficient medical resources and inadequate infrastructure continue to hinder access to quality care.
