RAJOURI NOV 27:-Khawas Area of Rajouri, A devastating fire broke out at a grocery shop in the Khawas area of sub-district Kotranka on Tuesday evening, completely destroying goods worth lakhs of rupees. The blaze, which was reportedly caused by an electrical short circuit, rapidly consumed the shop’s inventory. Local residents, noticing the rising flames, immediately rushed to the scene and attempted to control the fire with water from their homes. For nearly two hours, the community worked together to prevent the fire from spreading further, but the damage to the shop’s stock was already catastrophic.
The owner of the shop, Kuldeep Raj Sharma, expressed immense distress over the incident, estimating the losses at several lakhs. “Just a few days ago, goods worth over two lakhs were delivered, and they too have been completely destroyed,” he said. The fire has left him facing significant financial hardship.
In light of the incident, local residents have urged authorities to establish a fire station in Khawas, citing that such a facility would help prevent and contain such fires more effectively, minimizing the potential for further losses.
The Khawas police have registered a case and initiated an investigation. According to preliminary findings, the fire appears to have been caused by a short circuit. Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the exact cause and assess the full extent of the damage.
