RAJOURI/SRINAGAR APR 22:Senior Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader Mohammad Farooq Inqlabi has strongly condemned the horrific terror attack that took place earlier today at Baisaran near Pahalgam in Anantnag district, describing it as a barbaric assault on innocent lives and a grave attack on the peace and harmony of Jammu and Kashmir.
In a statement issued to the press, Inqlabi said:
“I am deeply shocked and saddened by the tragic terror attack that claimed the lives of 27 innocent people, most of them tourists who had come to enjoy the beauty and tranquility of our land. This is not just an attack on individuals, but on the spirit of Kashmiriyat and the collective conscience of our society.”
“Such cowardly acts of terror are aimed at derailing the peace and communal harmony that people of Jammu and Kashmir are striving to rebuild. My heart goes out to the families of the victims, especially those from Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Odisha who lost their loved ones in this senseless act of violence.”
Inqlabi welcomed the swift response from authorities and extended support to the efforts of security agencies. He also said, “We urge the government to ensure that those responsible for this heinous crime are identified and brought to justice without delay. At the same time, steps must be taken to reassure the public and restore confidence among tourists and locals alike.”
He also expressed solidarity with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who is set to arrive in Srinagar for an on-ground assessment. “This tragedy requires a united stand from all political, civil, and social groups. We must not allow the enemies of peace to succeed in their evil designs.”
The senior PDP leader concluded his statement by appealing for calm and unity, and called upon all communities to stand together against the forces trying to divide and destabilize the region.
