RAJOURI JUNE 07:-Senior People’s Democratic Party (PDP) leader Mohammad Farooq Inqlabi has strongly condemned the administration’s decision to disallow the congregation of Eid-ul-Adha prayers at the historic Eidgah Srinagar, terming it a direct affront to the religious sentiments and democratic rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

In a statement issued to the media, Inqlabi said, that the repeated denial of permission for Eid prayers at Eidgah — a centuries-old spiritual and cultural symbol — is deeply disappointing and unacceptable. It reflects a growing trend of curbing religious freedoms and undermining traditional religious institutions in the Valley.”
He further stated that the right to practice religion peacefully is enshrined in the Constitution of India and such actions only alienate the people further. Eidgah has historically been a place where thousands gather in peace and devotion. Using administrative pretexts year after year to block such gatherings is not only unjust but also erodes trust in the democratic framework,” he said.

Farooq Inqlabi also expressed solidarity with the Anjuman Auqaf Jamia Masjid and lauded their peaceful approach. He appealed to the government to refrain from unnecessary restrictions on religious activities and urged immediate restoration of religious freedoms in Kashmir.

He concluded by urging the Lieutenant Governor’s administration to introspect and respect the spiritual and emotional bond the people of Kashmir have with the Eidgah, and to ensure such unfortunate decisions are not repeated in the future.
