JAMMU JAN, 10:-Senior PDP leader Mohammad Farooq Inqlabi has strongly condemned the brutal and communal attack on Muslim labourers in Jali Village of Dorahat Tehsil, Almora District, Uttarakhand.

In a strongly worded statement, Inqlabi said that late last night, a group of goons forcibly entered the rented accommodation of Muslim labourers and mercilessly assaulted them, leaving several injured. One of the victims, who sustained serious injuries, has been shifted to AIIMS Rishikesh for advanced medical treatment. The affected labourers belong to Village Gulapura, Tehsil Chasana, Jammu & Kashmir.

Mohammad Farooq Inqlabi expressed grave concern and outrage over the fact that even after such a heinous incident, no FIR has been registered against the culprits. He alleged that instead of taking strict legal action, the local administration is pressurising the victims to enter into a compromise, which is highly condemnable and reflects a complete collapse of the rule of law.

He further stated that attacks on Muslims in Uttarakhand whether locals or outsiders are being reported on a daily basis, which is extremely unfortunate and alarming. “The continued silence of the Uttarakhand Government on such incidents is deeply disturbing and amounts to tacit approval of lawlessness and communal violence,” he said.

Inqlabi also lambasted the Chief Minister of Jammu & Kashmir, Omar Abdullah, for his failure to take up this serious issue with the Uttarakhand Government and for not ensuring the safety and justice for migrant labourers from Jammu & Kashmir working outside the Union Territory.
He demanded immediate registration of an FIR, arrest of all the culprits involved, and strict punishment under the law. Warning of strong repercussions, Mohammad Farooq Inqlabi said that if justice is denied and the perpetrators are not arrested immediately, he will be compelled to launch a massive protest against the Uttarakhand Government.

He reiterated that communal violence and targeted attacks on minorities will not be tolerated, and urged both the central and state governments to act decisively to protect the lives, dignity, and rights of innocent labourers
