**Findings at Government Girls Primary School, Trun Kewal, Raise Questions Over Staff Attendance, Departmental Monitoring and Accountability**
GNS ONLINE NEWS PORTAL
RAJOURI, OCT, 27:-Senior PDP leader and social activist Mohd Farooq Inqlabi has raised serious questions over the functioning of government schools in Zone Kotranka after Government Girls Primary School, Trun Kewal, was allegedly found closed at around 10:45 AM on Tuesday, despite it being an official working day.
Inqlabi demanded an immediate inquiry into the incident and a comprehensive review of alleged irregular teacher attachments in the zone, claiming that the deployment of teachers away from their original places of posting could be affecting the functioning of schools and the academic interests of students.
He said he had been repeatedly approaching the government and the Education Department for the past one to two years to highlight shortcomings in the functioning of government schools in Zone Kotranka. However, the reported closure of the school during working hours has once again brought the issue of staff attendance, supervisory oversight and administrative accountability into focus.
Inqlabi alleged that certain teacher attachments, reportedly carried out in the name of rationalisation by the Zonal Education Officer, Kotranka, required close scrutiny. He claimed that some teachers may have been deployed at schools closer to their residences, potentially leaving other institutions short of the staff required to ensure regular teaching.
Seeking intervention by the Chief Education Officer, Rajouri, and other senior authorities, he called for a fair and impartial investigation into the circumstances surrounding the closure of Government Girls Primary School, Trun Kewal. He also demanded verification of staff attendance, attachment and rationalisation orders, and compliance with the applicable rules.
He urged the Education Department to conduct surprise inspections across government schools in Zone Kotranka and establish whether teachers are serving at their designated places of posting. He said any violations of rules, unauthorised attachments or negligence established during the inquiry should invite appropriate action under the law.
“Government schools are the foundation of education for children from ordinary and economically weaker families. If a school remains closed during working hours or teachers are unavailable where they are required, it is the students who suffer. The Education Department must ensure that every school functions properly and that teachers are deployed according to students’ needs, not personal convenience,” Inqlabi said.
He stressed that the issue should not be treated as an isolated incident, calling for greater transparency in teacher deployment, effective monitoring by education authorities and accountability at every level.
The reported closure has renewed calls for the Education Department to verify the facts on the ground and ensure that government schools in remote areas receive the staff, supervision and attention necessary to protect children’s right to education.(www.gnsonline.in)
