Fake Arms Licenses: 9 residents of Rajouri arrested in Maharashtra for securing security guard jobs.

RAJOURI NOV 17:-In a major development a police team from Tofkhana Police Station in Ahilyanagar district of Maharashtra- reportedly on an intelligence inputs from Southern Command Military Intelligence-have arrested six residents of Rajouri district for using fake arms licences to secure security guard jobs.
When contacted Tofkhana police confirmed the arrest of 9 residents of Rajouri district snd the official said; “Further investigation is in progress in this matter”.
According to a press note issued by Topkhana Police station, all the nine accused persons are working as security guards in Ahilyanagar city and adjoining cities based on false documents.
Tofkhana police said that the operation was conducted on November 15 followed by raids at multiple locations after intelligence inputs.
Police apprehended all the nine suspects and preliminary investigation revealed that the arms licensees produced by the accused were forged.
Acting swiftly, the police seized all the nine 12 bore rifles along with fake arms licenses and 58 live cartridges.
“When Rajouri District Collector’s office in J&K was contacted, the officials confirmed that the seized licenses had not been issued by their office, confirming them fake” Tofkhana police said.
Further investigation by the Tofkhana police in this matter revealed that one Sher Ahmed s/o Ghulam Hussain resident of Kalakote (presently r/o Pune) is the key facilitator of the racket.
Sher Ahmed allegedly provided fake arms licenses and 12-bore rifles to others seeking employment as security guards, charging Rs 50000 per license and gun.
Besides Sher Ahmed, other arrested persons have been identified as Shabbir(38 years) s/o Mohammad Iqbal Hussain Gujjar resident of Argi-Dalhori; Mohammad Saleem (32) @Salem s/o Gul Mohd r/o Lah-Thanamandi; Mohd Sarfraj (24) s/o Nazir Hussain r/o Kothiyan-Kalakote); Jehangir (28) s/o Zakir Hussain r/o Dhangri ; Shahbaz Ahmed (33) s/o Nazir Hussain r/o Kothiyan-Kalakote; Surjit s/o Ramesh Chander resident of Sialsui-Kalakote; Abdul Rashid (38) s/o Chidia resident of Kalakote; Tuffel s/o Mohd s/o Mohd Gazia resident of Moughla-Kalakote.
Police added the detained persons had been working as security guards at various locations in Pune, Ahilyanagar, Chatrapati Sambhajinagar, Shrigonda, & Sonai.
Despite knowing that the licenses were fake, they secured government employment using these forged documents and illegally possessed 12-bore guns, police added.
A case under sections 120, 468, 471, 474, 34 IPC and 3/7/7/25 Armas Act (CR No.1248/2024) has been registered at Tofkhana police station in Ahilyanagar against the accused persons.
Inspector Anand Kokre leading the investigation and the police are focusing on tracing the origins of fake licenses and identifying others involved in the racket.
The action followed on the guidance of Army’s Southern Command Intelligence Unit and SSP, Rakesh Ola; additional SP, Prashant Khaire; SDPO, & Amol Bharti.
It is pertinent to mention here that in 2017 Rajasthan’s Anti-Terrorism Squad had unearthed arms licenses racket in J&K and later CBI had registered a case against ex-Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, BSF Commandant and a gun dealer of Jammu for selling licenses to BSF jawans without completion of requisite formalities.
In December 2023, CBI court had framed charges against two former Deputy Commissioners and others in this fake gun license scam.
