SRINAGAR NOV 12:-The Faculty of Agriculture (FoA), Wadura SKUAST-K, organized World Science Day and
National Education Day on the 10th and 11th of November 2024, respectively.
The events were marked by various activities aimed at raising awareness about the significance of science in the modern world and the latest educational developments in the country. Events
such as speeches, debates, and a quiz competition were held among the students.
Dean of FoA, Professor Rehana Habib, was the chief guest on both occasions. Whilecongratulating the organizing committee and the students for their participation, she emphasized the importance of being practical and making the most of the opportunities
science off ers, both in daily life and in their professional careers.
Professor Habib also stressed the need for implementing a multidisciplinary approach under the framework of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. She advocated for staying updated on the latest developments and research in the field of agricultural science and
encouraged students to read various agricultural magazines to gain in-depth knowledge about the latest trends and discussions in the field.
Earlier, at the outset of the event, Dr. Sajad Ahmad Bhat, the Students’ Welfare Offi cer, welcomed the chief guest, faculty members, and students to the celebration of these significant days. The welcome address was followed by a speech and debate competition. The
winner of the speech competition was Hadiya (UG 2nd year), with Hafsa Suhail (UG 1st year) as the runner-up.
This activity was followed by a quiz competition in which three teams participated. Zaid ulIslam and Mutaeb Iftikhar were crowned as the quiz champions, while Sarah Sikandar and
Nisha Mashee won the runner-up prize.
The prize distribution ceremony was conducted at the end, where the esteemed Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Rehana Habib, presented the prizes to the winners.
Dr. Prajjal Dey, Assistant Professor in the Division of Basic Sciences and Humanities, proposed the formal vote of thanks. The program was coordinated by the Club Leader of the Literary Society, Hamnah Naseem Geelani, assisted by the Club Secretary, Aiman Tariq
